I am Frank Wayne, an IT professional in the Chicago area. My current focus is supporting Northwestern University’s information technology infrastructure, including collaboration resources, cloud management, and the collection and analysis of machine data.
My IT experience began with programming in Waterloo FORTRAN IV. I was a computer operator on IBM AS/400s, a desktop support technician, a C/C++ and assembly language programmer, a dBase and FoxPro developer, a certified Novell Netware engineer, a network infrastructure professional (firewalls, load balancers, telecommunications), a data center technician, a systems engineer designing distributed server architectures, and a Splunk Core Certified Consultant. My first personal computer was a Commodore VIC-20 and I still build desktops, servers, and Raspberry Pi projects.
My personal interests — those that do not involve computers — include reading history, science, science-fiction, fantasy, philosophy, and mythology. I enjoy travel. I have been to Austria, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein (momentarily), Mexico, Monaco, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
My language studies included Latin and German. I speak fluent Polish.
I graduated cum laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Philosophy majoring in Information Systems, and later with a Master of Science, also in Information Systems. I am a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda and Phi Theta Kappa honors societies.
